The Bassmaster Classic 2010

Thought I would post about my trip to the Bassmaster Classic in Birmingham. Flew in to Birmingham on the 16th of Feb. to help my friend Dean Rojas , who's was fishing in his 8th Classic. Because of issues at last year Classic the Pros had to provide there own driver and as they called us "Caddy's" others called us Boat Boys LOL. So I had the task of making sure he got to the launch ramp every morning and then mad e sure he got back to the boat yard every afternoon for the weigh-in, made for a long but fun day.

Started every morning at 3:30 am getting to the boat yard and getting the boat prepped and ready to go. It was a hour and fifteen minute drive out the the ramp every day. After we would get them out there and launched we would wait till they took off at 7 am and then we would get on a bus and go back to the boat yard. I would then get ready for the rest of my day and go to the "boat show" where I would help one of my sponsor Izorline for awhile and then back to the boat yard at 2pm and off we would go back to the ramp where we would get them out of the water and drive back to the boat yard, makes for a long day, five hours a day driving. He would go thru the weigh-in and then come back to the boat yard where we get him ready for the next day, getting his tackle ready, charging the batteries ... etc. Then off to dinner and off to bed and start over again. Whew what a whirl wind of a day. Dean made the day three cut in 23rd place and ended up in 23rd over all with KVD winning his third Classic in 20 years along with a cool $500.000.00. This was shown on ESPN2 and will play again over the next couple of weeks on Saturday so check it out.

The boat show was awesome! hundreds of thousands of people from all over the world and country came to see the Super Bowl of Bass Fish'n. There were some from Australia, Canada, Italy and from all over the US. Just to watch their favorite Pro try and win the holly grail of fish'n. Tons of vendors there showing off there new tackle and gear along with boats and motors. A number of pros that did not make the classic were there signing autographs and taking pictures with their fans, lots of fun!

All in all it was a great few days and now off to another season which starts in March on the California Delta near Sacramento Ca.

So stay tuned and will up date as we go...
